Deacon Candidates

Ricardo Kendrick

I come from loving parents who raised me in a Baptist church in Tampa, FL, praying for me to know God from day one. I was baptized young but struggled to understand who God was. I also struggled with a variety of sins as a kid and into my college life at UCF. After years of not going to church, God used a close friend to bring me back to church and a few reformed pastors to help me grow to know God’s word. Around 2017, I learned about CUF after searching for some reformed churches in Orlando. Since then, I have been immensely blessed by God and Christ through the preached word and the care of the elders and the people who I consider family. I’ve also been able to serve at CUF by teaching and helping with setup duties on Sundays. I am happily married to Marsha Kendrick, and we have two kids, Alyssa and Aiden. I like to read, talk, help others, play tennis, and work on projects. My name is Ricardo Kendrick II.

Born and raised in Minnesota, my wife (Ellen) and I settled in Orlando in 2021. I attended Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and met Ellen shortly after graduating. We got married in the spring of 2019 and moved to Atlanta. COVID hit, I was furloughed from my job and wrestled with God about what He had in store for me. It was revealed through prayer and friends to pursue a degree in mental health counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary here in Orlando. I graduated with my MA in Counseling in 2023 and have worked in the field since.

Ellen and I started coming to CUF in the fall of 2021 as a friend in the program told us about CUF. We became members in January 2022. In the fall of 2023, we were asked to lead a community group, and after wrestling through it, we decided to open our home up! To date, it has been one of our best decisions. We love being able to host friends in our space. I also serve as an usher and volunteer on the setup team. Ellen and I are so excited about what the Lord has in store for CUF!
